It’s a great dessert or snack to bring to a potluck or BBQ.

Ingredients + Substitutions
All you need to make this vegan fruit dip is 7 ingredients.
- Chickpeas: You may use cooked dried chickpeas, or canned. But, if possible, use no salt added chickpeas.
- Applesauce: Unsweetened applesauce is best to avoid adding refined sugar.
- Lemon: Adds a hint of citrusy flavour to the fruit hummus.
- Maple syrup: The maple notes and sweetness from the syrup give a caramel-ly flavour to this vegan fruit dip. You may sub with date syrup, or another sweetener of your choice.
- Coconut sugar: I use unrefined coconut sugar but if you don’t have any on hand, brown sugar works well here too.
- Vanilla + cinnamon: For added depth of flavour, but you may omit one or both if you don’t have them on hand.
Instructions

Add all the ingredients to a food processor or blender. Then process until completely smooth.
That’s it!
Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Then serve with all your favourite fresh fruits, or add some pretzels or graham crackers to the mix.
Storage
Keep your leftover vegan fruit dip in an airtight container in your fridge for 3-4 days.
You can prepare this dip in advance and keep refrigerated until needed. Give the dip a quick stir before serving if prepping in advance.
Expert Tips
- Use chickpeas with no added salt. This is a dessert after all. 🙂
- Chickpeas that are cooked from dried will be creamier compared to canned, but use whatever you have available.
- Use a high-speed blender for ultimate creaminess and smoothest texture.
- Once blended smooth, taste and adjust for sweetness if needed.
