Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make this super easy and delicious avocado chocolate mousse recipe.
- Avocado: Choose an avocado that is ripe for the creamiest results.
- Banana: Use a ripe banana that is completely spotted brown for the most natural sweetness and flavour.
- Cocoa powder: Use unsweetened raw cocoa powder for a chocolate flavour, without added sugar.
Instructions
(This is a summary with step by step photos, full recipe measurements and instructions are in the recipe card below.)
Add all 3 ingredients to your blender.
Process until completely smooth.
NOTE: If needed, add 1-2 teaspoons of water (or almond milk, oat milk, or another dairy-free milk) to get things moving. The ripeness of your ingredients, and whether or not you’re using any optional extras will determine how much water is required.
Variations
Spice up this vegan chocolate mousse with any of these optional extras.
- Make it a coconut chocolate mousse by adding coconut cream or full-fat coconut milk.
- Top with fresh raspberries, blueberries, shredded coconut, and/or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
- Have a sweet tooth? Use 1-2 teaspoons of pure maple syrup instead of water for added sweetness.
Or, freeze the pudding for 1 hour (or longer) for a frozen chocolate treat.
Equipment
Use a small blender, like a Magic Bullet, for the best creamy texture.
If you don’t have a small blender or food processor, mash by hand using a large fork with similar results. However, the texture won’t get as smooth.
Storage
This avocado mousse recipe makes a small portion for 1-2 servings, but if you don’t consume it right away, keep leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
To freeze, store the mousse in an airtight container and keep frozen for up to 3 months.
Expert Tips
- The ripeness of your ingredients will determine if, and how much liquid you need to get things moving. Start blending without any added liquid and add as needed.
- Make it a frozen chocolate treat by freezing your avocado chocolate mousse for 1 hour before enjoying it.
