Ingredients + Substitutions
Here’s everything you’ll need to make these delicious raspberry energy bites.
- Raspberries: Choose fresh raspberries for the best flavour. Frozen raspberries also add too much moisture.
- Almonds: Use blanched almonds for better colour and texture. Or you may also use raw cashews.
- Oats: Use rolled oats that are certified gluten-free, if needed. While oats are naturally gluten-free, they are often cross-contaminated with gluten products.
- Dates: Pitted dates or medjool dates both work. Make sure to remove the pits if using medjool dates. These add natural sweetness without using other sweeteners.
- Vanilla: Always use pure vanilla extract, not the artificially flavoured kind.
Instructions
(This is a summary with step by step photos, full recipe measurements and instructions are in the recipe card below.)
Add everything to your food processor bowl.
Process until the mixture is well combined.
Roll the mixture into small bite-size balls for the perfect snack.
OPTIONAL: Roll some of the raspberry bliss balls in unsweetened cocoa powder or desiccated coconut.
Variations
- Try other nuts: raw cashews, pecans, or walnuts.
- For nut-free: use seeds such as sunflower seeds or pepitas.
- Use other fruits: strawberries, cherries, or blackberries.
- Add-ins: toss in some chia seeds, dark chocolate chips, shredded coconut, or cacao powder for added flavour.
Or try my blueberry or strawberry bliss balls.
Equipment
I use this Cusinart food processor to make these energy balls.
You MAY use a blender if you don't have a food processor. However, removing the mixture from a food processor is easier if you have the option.
Storage
Chill the energy balls in your fridge for 1 hour before enjoying them to help them firm up.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in your refrigerator for up to 5 days.
To freeze, store the balls in a freezer safe container for up to 3 months.
Expert Tips
- Don’t over-blend the mixture, as these snacks taste best with a little bit of texture.
- The batter is a little sticky, so use wet hands to roll the mixture into balls to prevent it from sticking to your hands.
- The rolled balls will be soft, so refrigerate them for at least 1 hour before enjoying them to help them harden and set.

These are so good! What a nutritious snack to have on hand. If I freeze these will they be tart and lose their sweetness? Thank-you.
Rosa says
Hi Debbie, so happy you enjoyed these! Thanks for the review.:)
I didn’t notice a difference in flavour after freezing these for a few days. However, it’s possible that the longer they are kept frozen they may lose some sweetness.
