I’m not a big fan of store bought salad dressings. They always seem to contain a ton of ingredients that I can’t pronounce. That’s usually a red flag for me. As a general rule, I try not to buy a lot of packaged items. But when I do, I’m always reading the labels and the ingredients. Personally, I’m more interested in the ingredients within an item, than the calories. At least most of the time. Since salad dressings are so easy to make, I just can’t justify buying packaged ones from the supermarket. Especially since they often come with added sugars and other ingredients that I just don’t want myself, or my family to be eating. Hence, this homemade, deliciously creamy, butter bean salad dressing.
This salad dressing contains wholesome ingredients, mainly beans! It has a ton of protein, plus it tastes AMAZING! The colour and texture is similar to ranch dressing, and since you eat with your eyes first, I’m all for that! However, there are no unhealthy fats, no artificial flavours or colours, and NO sugar included!
Sometimes you need to sneak a little extra protein into your salad. Often times, I’m tossing in some nuts or legumes. But with this dressing, you can not only add delicious creamy goodness, but a healthy dose of protein, plus good for you fat!!!
BONUS! This butter bean salad dressing is SO EASY to make!
Just toss all the ingredients into a high powered blender, (I use my Vitamix), and puree until smooth. Easy, peasy.
This salad dressing can also double as a dip. Just decrease the liquids, using less oil and vinegar to adjust the thickness. Use this bean dip for your next veggie and cracker tray. Yum!
